General education, not advice

Content on this site is for general education. It is not personalized financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and no investment is suitable for every person.

Our role and qualifications

Dr. Anam Omer is a physician and the host of this educational initiative. Her role as a physician does not establish professional qualifications to provide personalized investment advice.

Affiliation and conflicts of interest

Physician Passive Investing is affiliated with Headway Capital Investments, a real estate investment company. The relationship is disclosed so you can weigh our educational content with that context in mind.

One purpose of this initiative is to build relationships with physicians who may later evaluate investment opportunities offered by Headway. That is a conflict of interest you should weigh when considering anything you read here.

Risks of private real estate investments

  • You may lose some or all of the money you invest.
  • Investments are generally illiquid. There is often no market to sell, and you may have to hold for years.
  • No return, income or distribution is guaranteed. Projections are estimates and may not be achieved. Distributions can be reduced or stopped.
  • Results depend heavily on the sponsor's skill, judgment and integrity.
  • Borrowing (leverage) can magnify losses. Interest rate changes, refinancing risk and lender requirements can harm results.
  • Property values, rents, occupancy, insurance, taxes and operating costs can change in ways that hurt performance.
  • Investors may be asked, or may be required, to contribute additional capital in some structures.
  • Tax treatment is complex, depends on your circumstances and may change.
  • Past performance does not indicate future results.

No offering

Nothing here is an offer to sell or a solicitation of an offer to buy any security. Any offering would be made only through separate offering documents containing the required disclosures, to investors who meet applicable qualification requirements, after appropriate legal review.

Before you invest

Consult your own attorney, tax professional and financial adviser. Read all offering documents carefully, including the risk factors. Private real estate investments are illiquid and can lose value, and you could lose some or all of the money you invest. Invest only money you can afford to lose and to leave untouched for the full holding period.
